Hi, I’m Shanna
Coach, consultant and woman on a mission to change how we talk about and manage persistent pain
Also: music fiend, art lover, snooker watcher, history buff and kaftan fan
I have lived with disability since I was 8 years old and throughout my childhood and teenage years the symptoms had a significant impact on all areas of my life.
My condition had seemingly stabilised but then, in my late twenties, the knock on effect of my disability on my spine began to manifest and create further complications. I went from independence to living with my parents again and as I hit 30 I felt trapped, frustrated and hopeless.
In 2016 came the first turning point: I had the opportunity to complete a pain management programme and it turned out to be transformative. I wished I’d had access to something like it when I was younger. I was, and remain, baffled by the fact it’s often the last port of call as a treatment option for people living with persistent pain.
In 2018 came the second turning point: I began working with a life coach. Focusing on my own spiritual practice and self-development, alongside my pain management skills, saw my life begin to change in powerful, meaningful ways.
By the summer of 2021 I had returned to independent living in London and knew I wanted to share the power of coaching and pain management techniques with others. I am deeply passionate about the fact that we need to change our approach to treating and managing persistent pain in order to see the millions of people currently living with it truly thrive.
